AITO AWARD WINNER

Who are AITO?

AITO is the Association of Independent Tour Operators, a collection of over 120 specialist independent companies offering the widest variety of quality holiday around the world with the security of financial protection.

Many of them operate on a small scale their names such as Inside Japan, Safari Consultants or Vacations to America evoking their expertise. Others focus on a particular activity such as wine tours, art and history, riding or walking holidays.

AITO Travel Agents are true independent travel agents.

AITO is the Association of Independent Tour Operators, a collection of over 120 specialist independent companies offering the widest variety of quality holiday around the world with the security of financial protection.

AITO Agents are truly independent, not swayed by sales targets or incentives but proud to give clear unbiased advice and honest opinions.

Most AITO tour operator members will only sell their products through an accredited AITO Travel Agent, so Jacquie is able to access an unrivalled choice of holidays with expertise of local knowledge to hand that is simply not available in mainstream high street agencies.

AITO Networking and training

Spending time to build relationships with the owners, directors and key members of staff learning about their products in depth and sharing their expertise enables Jacquie to develop herself and better serve her clients. Attending conferences is one key way to do this. The destinations are familiar but the conference is hosted in a less visited undiscovered corner of the country.

During the year there are training opportunities both within and outside AITO, for example Jacquie is a New Zealand Specialist, as part of the New Zealand Tourist board training programme.

  • AITO AWARDS

Since starting her business Jacquie has won numerous AITO Awards including the highly coveted “Outstanding Achievement Award”. Unlike many industry awards, these are not self-nominating but are chosen by our peers in the AITO Panel and AITO Tour Operators. It is always a surprise and a tremendous honour to win.

MY JOURNAL

One of the questions I’m asked the most when meeting someone new is “where is your favourite holiday place?”

I’ve travelled so much it is impossible to give just one answer, for a short break it would either be a weekend in the UK if I really just needed a quiet break, or a European city for longer break, I loved Rome with the mixture of ancient and modern culture merging together in the city.

I do like a multi-centre holiday, a few days in a city followed by a stay by one of the Italian Lakes, or a three centre holiday of city culture, activities and a few days relaxing at the end, Canada is another favourite destination for a multi-centre holiday.

Further afield still my favourite country has always been New Zealand, I was fortunate to spend many weeks travelling round and the stunning scenery is hard to beat.

Many of my clients have no idea where they want to go on holiday and come to me for ideas and inspiration, everyone is different and you may not like the same kind of holiday that your friends or relatives enjoy and recommend. I always take time to find out a little bit about new clients and what they want from their holiday, I often come up with suggestions that they would never have thought of themselves..
